Terrence Singh 2020

Congratulations to another alumni (graduate and
former lecturer) from Te Piringa, Faculty of Law -
University of Waikato, Terence (Terry) Singh, who
was appointed as a District Court Judge in Waitakere
City, Auckland in 2020.
Terry is a barrister and solicitor based in
Hamilton, and is the immediate past president of the
Waikato Bay of Plenty branch of the New Zealand
Law Society.
He lectured in criminal law and evidence at
Waikato, and has had an extensive career working in
the criminal jurisdiction, including at various law
firms in Northland, the New Zealand Police, Crown
Law and Inland Revenue NZ.
In 2011, Terry joined the Public Defence
Service based in Hamilton and also served as duty
lawyer supervisor at the Hamilton District Court.
Judge Singh was sworn in on Friday 19
November 2021.

Jesse Royal played NRL for both the Newcastle
Knights (29 games between 2007-08) and the NZ
Warriors (36 games between 2009-10).
