Erin Newell 2002
Erin Newell was
confirmed the Junior World
Record Holder by the
International Game Fishing
Association on September
7th 2002 at Tairua/Pauanui
Sports Fishing Club’s
prizegiving.
Her record-winning
fish was a Striped Marlin
weighing 122.85kg. Erin
took one hour 15 minutes to
bring her huge fish alongside
her father’s charter boat
“Impulsive”. It was caught
about five miles east of
Castle Rock on a 24kg line.
The fish was caught on
March 31st 2002.
