Queen’s Birthday Honour for Jacinda

Jacinda MacDonald, daughter of Lyn
and Sandy MacDonald of Ngaruawahia,
was named in the Queen’s Birthday
Honours list last week.
In a special list for East Timor, Jacinda
received the New Zealand Order of Merit.
She is a member of the Royal New Zealand
Army Medical Corps and was posted to
East Timor early in the hostilities in 1999.
Jacinda’s interest in the Army began
while attending Ngaruawahia High School
as a cadet where she spent time in the
Ngaruawahia High School Army Cadet
Unit. She attended her seventh form year at
Church College of New Zealand before
being accepted into the Army where she
began her training as a Medic.
Postings to Waiouru, Burnham and
Palmerston North preceeded her move to
Whenuapai where her medical training was
accelerated and she now heads a medical
cell in her unit.
Jacinda MacDonald was awarded the New

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Zealand Order of Merit in the Queen’s
and is married to Ken Prattley of Birthday Honours list for service in East
Christchurch. They have a home in Timor.
