This log, 1,800 years old, was presented to the
school by the Perry Foundation. It is part of the
aftermath of the eruption that created Lake Taupo.
The log was discovered deep in the pumice that was
thrown out by the eruption. The log still bears the
heat scars of the original event that killed it. The gift
sits on a pumice bed amongst ferns and rocks similar
to that of the Taupo area.
