The Book of Joseph, Chapter 1,968
I. It was three score years and eight after the
turning of the century when Joseph of the
Templeton clan of Ngaruawahia scanned the
province and said to himself “Yonder are
players unorganised. I will organise them
like unto other provinces heretofore
organised. I will cause a gathering of
footballers unlike any that have been
conceived. I will call them United, for so they
will be.”
II. The chosen gathered at the behest of their
leader, but invasion of the sports fields was
to be denied to them due to the tardiness of
their preparation.
III. “The morrow will see us take the fields of
glory”, stated Joseph.
IV. And so, two score and nine years since the
round ball was briefly shown the light of day
in the Village, did the Machine of Green
begin its mission on the fields of Wahia Nga
Rua.
