Annual Music Festival. The school choir of 24 performed an individual item with
credit.
A Summit Meeting of Principals and Committee Chairmen was called to meet South
Auckland education Board officers to discuss zoning of the new housing area. It was
decided that all Rosser Block housing would attend Kimihia.
November
PTA social and games evening attended by 56.
Art & Craft evening convened by Kimihia attended by nine schools and their
displays.
December
An end of year function held on the 18th in the school grounds in fair
weather. Afternoon programme of tabloids, races, swimming, etc. Items
and official speeches by the Principal and Mr Gerrand in the evening. Only three
families stayed to the picnic tea due to the weather turning cold in the late
afternoon.
Mr Riley of the SAEB came to site the prefabricated classrooms as a
temporary solution before the permanent buildings are ready.
The school closed on the 20th with a roll of 199. Twenty-eight form two pupils
moved on to secondary school.
T
he school has been upgraded to V.D. to start in 1975. Additional staff,
ancillary staff, part time staff and buildings arranged for February ‘75.
The future expansion is unknown but is expected to be sudden and large.
