Trent Competes in Bulgaria
Trent Williams took part in the New Zealand
Power Lifters Champion-ships in Hastings, lifting in the
Under-75kg section.
Although not placed due to an incomplete lift he
managed to achieve a personal total of 160kg on the
bench, which would have been an Oceania record, had he
completed all lifts.
“I made an error in judgement in aiming too high on
my squat. Choosing 210kg saw me unable to complete the
lift.” Trent had already lifted this total in previous
competition.
Despite not meeting his personal expectations Trent
still travelled to the World Championships in Bulgaria on
27th August for the September competition, where he
received a bronze medal in his class.
“The food provided for us in Bulgaria was not what
I was used to and that, along with having to drop some
weight, resulted in me performing below my best”.
The Oceana Championships is also his goal in
December.
