Top Medic
Winner of the Kidman
Trophy for 1996 as the most
outstanding non-commissioned
officer (NCO) in the Royal New
Zealand Army Medical Corps is
Corporal Jacinda MacDonald.
After being awarded her
trophy at the recent Waterhouse
Trophy competition Cpl
MacDonald said winning came as
a total surprise to her.
She was strongly encouraged to
take on the role as team leader for
the 2nd/1st Battalion, Royal New
Zealand Infantry Regiment Aid
Post (RAP) Team, which came
fourth in the Waterhouse
competition, but was rather
reluctant to do so.
“This was the first year I
had competed in the
Waterhouse,” and admitted to
being a bit hesitant as she didn’t
know quite what to expect.
Cpl MacDonald found she
thoroughly enjoyed the
competition and the unexpected
presentation of the Kidman
Trophy was a bonus.
She has spent the past two
years with 2/1 RNZIR RAP.
“I love the variety of work
here, and we get a lot of time out
in the field travelling with the
battalion which I really enjoy,”
she said.
Each medical unit in the
