Jacinda
receives ODE
for bravery in
East Timor
Sergeant Jacinda Prattley
(MacDonald) has received the
New Zealand Order of Merit
from the Governor General Sir
Hardie Boyes at an investiture
ceremony at Government House.
She was recognized by her
superior officers as having
performed beyond the call of
duty in an incident in East Timor
in October 1999.
Jacinda was an ex-pupil of
Ngaruawahia High School, and
Principal Barbara Cavanagh was
thrilled that past pupils were
receiving recognition in their
chosen fields of endeavour.
“We have a great number
of pupils that go on each year to
achieve wonderful things in their
careers,” says Mrs Cavanagh.
“We are especially proud that
Jacinda is thought of so highly by Corporal Jacinda Prattley (MacDonald) received the New Zealand
her peers.” Order of Merit from Governor General Sir Hardie Boyes at the

School teacher Mariana Whanga
