shopping and acting like little kiddies in
Disneyland. After more shopping we had a
Medieval Times dinner while watching our knights
compete in a jousting tournament.
For most of us the highlight of L.A. was
when we spent the day at Magic Mountain. This
place had over 30 spine-tingling roller coasters as
well as wet-and-wild thrill rides. Marrin and I.D.
got to spend the day rolling around with a couple
of N.B.A. stars.
On our final day we all went shopping and
spent the last of our cash before heading back to
our hotel to pack our bags.
The trip home was pretty uneventful. Most of
us slept the whole way while the rest watched
movies and listened to music.
The group thanks Matua Crawford, Whaea
Roa, Whaea Poppy, Aunty Pare, Ms Hari, Aunty
Wynel and Matua Sandy for the awesome
opportunity.
To our parents and all those who made it
possible for us to get there it was an awesome
experience and we are eternally grateful to you.

Hoover Dam but, because our impromptu Isaac Royal (15)
performance we got “bumped up” to the Big Hard Maera Paki (15)
Hat Tour and got to see how Hoover Dam works Te Ngaru Brown (13)
from the inside. Malarna Gray (14)
Five hours of further travelling on the bus to Corrie Wharakura (13)
Grand Canyon wasn’t too bad, considering we got Jessie Royal (17)
free munchies, watched vid’s and listen to a black Kotiro Turner (18)
lady sing. Marrin Haggie (17)
While many of us were admiring the intricate Te Whainoa Te Wiata (14)
geographic make-up of the canyon Hubba yells out Matuiti Hona (15)
“Far! This is like a big hangi pit!”. Pokaia Matthews (14)
Las Vegas was awesome with lights Rihi Mita-Watene (15)
everywhere. There were casinos with roller Piata Murray (14)
coasters, shows, fun park rides and, obviously, slot Jacqueline Pouaka (13)
machines. “The big Regatta” as Here put it. Just Tutereinga Holland (14)
had heaps of people, some sane and many not so Kameta Puke (16)
sane (Casey). Te Manawaroa Teinakore (17)
The last leg of the trip was the City of Angels Rangiherehere Katipa (14)
and crime (Los Angeles). Our first big outing was Riki Lee Peters (17)
to Universal Studios which boasted the world’s Te Waiti Walker (14)
longest escalator and heaps and heaps of rides. Leon Matthews (18)
We visited Hollywood’s “Walk of Fame”, Kura Walker (17)
