night’s music.
The following day at 10am the official welcome takes place
inside the school hall. School principal Mr Neville Murphy will
speak, followed by president of the Ex-Student’s Association Mr
Gayne Jacobs. The main guest speaker will foundation principal
Edgar Allison.
Sir Douglas Carter, a former High Commissioner for New
Zealand in London, will unveil the honours boards. Sir Douglas
has had a long-time interest in the school.
After the welcoming ceremony, class photographs will be
taken.
A lunch will follow, and informal sports are planned for the
afternoon.
——
The school will be open all day, with photo displays of past
schooldays, and a souvenir stall. There will be plenty of time for
chat and reminiscing.
At 6pm it will be time for reunion members to enjoy cocktails,
dinner and dance with Hamilton’s John Corban’s Band at the Te
Rapa Racecourse.
For those who still have energy the next day, a church service
takes place in the school hall at 11am officiated by former Mayor
of Ngaruawahia Mr Bert Latta.
And afterwards there will no doubt be plenty of fond farewells.
